This site is the support site for the app ‘Repton Walk’. This app takes the visitor on a guided walk around Sheringham Park, Norfolk UK, showing the work of the Eighteenth Century landscape designer Humphry Repton.
The app has been made in support of the ‘Humphrey Repton at Sheringham Park’ exhibition which runs for a year from summer 2012 to summer 2013.
Launch the app.
After the initial loading screen it will open on the about screen.
This scrollable page gives introductory information about the app.
Click the map button to go to the map screen
This screen shows a map of Sheringham Park.
Pinch and scroll to navigate around the map
Click on the markers 1 to 6 to see information about a particular point of interest
The about button takes you back to the about screen.
These are scrollable screens.
They include a title,
an original Humphry Repton water colour
and information about that particular part of the park.
Use the map button to return to the map screen
If you are at Sheringham Park, have your GPS turned on and can get sufficient GPS connedtion this will show your location on the map.
Your position on the map will be recalculated every ten seconds, but you can also use the GPS button to manually update your position on the map
Even though there GPS coverage across the park the service can be weak. For this reason it might take a while to initially triangulate your position. Once this has happened your location should be consistently marked when you are within the map area.
The app will work as above but the Location marker will not show.
You will still be able to learn about Humphry Repton and his design for Sheringham Park.
You will also be asked if you would like directions to Sheringham Park.
The app has been designed to work on iPhone 3GS to iPhone 4S. It will work on iPhone 5, but is not optimised for the larger screen.
It will work on iPod touch 4th generation, though without the GPS functionality.
It will work on the iPad 1, 2, 3 and 4, though it will show at iPhone resolution.
GPS will only be available on 3G iPads.
At time of publishing IOS was on version 6.
Ugly Studios will support IOS updates until August 2013, the length of the exhibition. After that time we will either remove the app or renew our support contract with the funder.
