National Trust at Dunwich Heath wanted to replace their existing map with a fresh, illustrated view, which gave a sense of the habitats, scale of the site and showed the footpaths and amenities on the reserve.
Initially drawn in pencil, the final map was completed digitally, to enable future updating. The map had to be easy to use, so was orientated to the landscape found as you leave the visitor centre.
Since completion of this map, NT have acquired additional land at the heath. Our approach has allowed us to merge another illustration to create one large view of the area.
What we did
Ugly have created a great site map, producing an extremely distinctive style that stands out against the usual type of maps encountered on other sites.
