Missiles, mystery and military history at National Trust Orford Ness Quayside Office!

National Trust Orford Ness Quayside Office, Designed by Ugly Studios

We designed the interior of the newly revamped Quayside Office at National Trust Orford Ness

We’re delighted to announce that we’ve completed the exciting National Trust Orford Ness Quayside Office.

This thrilling project took us back to the mid-twentieth century, when Orford Ness was used for a variety of mysterious military purposes including missile and radar testing. Today, the abandoned buildings cast an ominous atmosphere over the Ness. The disturbing twentieth-century history is today part of the stunning National Trust site, which boasts an unusual variety of wildlife and stunning views across the Suffolk coastline.

We had a fantastic time working on the Quayside Office, incorporating quirky details such as authentic plane fuselage and military equipment. We’re delighted to have been involved in this fascinating project and we’re sure you’ll love this unique introduction to a one-of-a-kind nature reserve as much as we loved designing it!

Period features and authentic details completed this unique space at Orford Ness

But we’re not quite finished there… We’ve also been asked to create interpretative signage for the whole reserve, as well as a permanent exhibition on conservation and management, exploring the fascinating recent history of this enigmatic site.
