HistOracle launched

There is something new in The Forum in Norwich: a 55″ touch-screen displaying a quiz about the city’s heritage.

Ugly Studios were commissioned to create the touchscreen interactive by Norwich Heritage, Economic and Regeneration Trust (HEART) and its development was a collaborative process involving HEART, Ugly Studios, The Forum, and the University of East Anglia (UEA).

The brief was to devise a digital interactive specifically for the Forum space that would engage the general public in some of the facts and figures from the online HistOracle database. This database was put together as a joint project between HEART and the Schools of History and Computer Sciences at UEA. It contains entries about the people, buildings and events that have shaped the city of Norwich over the last 1,000 years.

Ugly Studios lead the process involving HEART, The Forum and UEA to plan the touch-screen based on the HistOracle content. We then built the interactive while HEART designed the quiz.

The photos shown here are from the launch event which was held in the Forum last month.

More information about the HistOracle project and the touch-screen can be found on the Norwich HEART website.
