The interpretation in the American Library in Norwich needed to be exciting and attractive to a younger audience, but also contain enough detail for military history enthusiasts. Interactive elements needed to fit into the book shelves and not take up too much space.
Idea
We produced a film to tell the history of the library and three touch screen interactives.
One touch-screen is an interactive timeline of American history and culture featuring a diverse selection of people, places, objects and events from the last few hundred years. Two of the touch-screens are interactive graphic novels giving the ‘people story’ of life during WWII, both for the locals and the American’s posted to Norfolk.
Result
The audio-visual work has been a great hit with visitors. Younger visitors gravitate towards the screens. The interactive stories are genuinely captivating and have really long dwell times giving visitors an emotional and human connection to events in the past. The level of detail in the screens has been commented on by users.
