Brief

The Broads Authority - a member of the UK family of National Parks - wanted two touchscreen interactive wildlife guides for their visitor centres and another for taking to exhibitions.

Idea

Working with wildlife film-makers Hairy Frog Productions, Ugly developed software which allowed users to browse wildlife facts, photos and videos through an intuitive 'Wildlife Tree' interface as well as by habitat and location.

Result

The portable screen was launched at the Outdoor and Leisure Show 2011 where it attracted people towards the Broads Authority stand. Further screens were then commissioned for visitor centres across the National Park. The Broads Visitor Centres were nominated for the 2011 Eastern Daily Press Best Visitor Information award. The screens are still popular, well used by visitors and have never broken down.

The Wildlife Touch Screen is amazing. It's such a useful resource and a great educational asset. The public use it all the time and many make a bee-line for it… it's fantastic.
