FCC Environment, in partnership and on behalf of Lincolnshire County Council, commissioned Ugly Studios to design and build a visitor centre for their Energy from Waste facility, Lincolnshire. The centre would speak to the local community, business groups and schools, to communicate the inspiring story of waste management and sustainability.
Idea
We envisaged portable, modular units with a clean and modern design, expressing the key message of sustainable living. Touch-screen games, hands-on displays, and an interactive model would encourage visitors to think about their environmental impact through exploration and play. Surrounding wall and window graphics would encourage enthusiasm about a positive, environmentally-friendly future.
Result
The result is a bright, fun and dynamic exhibition that hits home with truly important environmental messages. Since the visitor centre opened its doors it has proved universally popular with visitors of all ages.
