National Trust’s Dunwich Heath Nature Reserve is known for its stunning landscape and fun family activities. Continuing our working relationship with Dunwich, Ugly were commissioned to revamp their popular children's nature discovery trail to broaden its overall appeal.
Idea
The trail's concept was bold and bright - with a modern makeover - designed to draw in families and children. We created 'Discovery' posts: interactive trail markers camouflaged as regular fence posts, but equipped with hidden panels which visitors can pull out to find out more.
Result
The colourful 'Dunwich Discovery' leaflet guides you around 12 interactive posts installed across Dunwich Heath. The trail supplies thought-provoking questions and activities, which can be checked against the 'Discovery panel' mounted in the visitor centre. Following numerous compliments, the National Trust have asked us to produce a second trail.

We partnered with Ugly Studios to create a new children’s trail to help our younger visitors understand why this is such a precious place... The finished product ticks all the boxes for us and our visitors have been very complementary about the new trail.
