North Norfolk Historic Buildings Trust wanted to bring new life to their derelict, ex-RAF building, Langham Dome. They appointed Ugly Studios to provide an interpretation plan, website proposal and marketing strategy for their Heritage Lottery Fund (HLF) Stage 2 bid.
Idea
Working with local community group The Friends of Langham Dome (FoLD), we developed interpretive themes and key messages. Through this process, we also devised how the onsite and online experiences would combine to inform a creative branding process for this new visitor attraction.
Result
Our consultancy, in partnership with FoLD, led to a successful HLF application. Langham Dome was awarded £446,400 from HLF and a further £199,000 from English Heritage, along with additional support to secure the building’s future and tell the stories of its past.
Langham Dome is now an award-winning site, with the following accolades:
Angel Awards, English Heritage 2014- Commended
The Graham Allen Award for Conservation and Design 2014 - Special Commemoration
Association for Heritage Interpretation 'Discover Heritage' Awards 2015 - Runner Up & Judges' Special Mention.
