The Royal Society for the Protection of Birds (RSPB) produce the bi-monthly magazine 'Wild Times' for their junior members. Ugly Studios, with our experience of creating content for children - along with a keen interest in nature - were chosen as the design team for the publication.
Idea
The RSPB approached Ugly to reinvent the magazine to stay relevant alongside competition such as films, cartoons and video games. Our answer was to modernise their existing characters, to make them appear as fashionable as other brands in the children's market. We also developed the graphic design, making the entire publication cohesive with a clearer sense of brand.
Result
We have been the lead illustrative team on Wild Times since 2007, creating fun and exciting content to engage children with the natural world. Since we joined the magazine, RSPB junior membership has increased.
