Brief

The bell ringers at St Peter Mancroft Church in Norwich have played an important role in the development of change ringing on church bells. Ugly Studios were appointed to develop an interpretation plan for a new Bell Ringing Teaching and Heritage Centre at the church.

Idea

We developed an exhibition path to take visitors from learning about the heritage, through understanding how bells are rung, to being inspired to learn to ring. We identified two specific, target audiences, picked out the key themes, resources and stories and designed concepts for the visitor experience.

Result

The concepts went on display in the church with overwhelmingly positive feedback. Visitors comments included: 'a brilliant and unique idea' and 'can't wait to see it in the flesh'. The plan is being used in a Stage Two HLF application and other fund raising activities.
