The Broads Authority, as a member of the UK family of National Parks, wanted to promote the Broads as a tourist attraction. They approached Ugly Studios to design a tourist-focused website, providing information and inspiration for visitors and advertising Broads-based tourism businesses.
We aimed to present simple, relevant and engaging information to make the user experience as enjoyable as possible. Features such as East of England Tourism's accommodation and attraction pages, photos and video from social media sites Flickr and YouTube, and maps from Ordnance Survey were considered. A content management system would support the website, and allow the Broads Authority to easily and regularly update their website.
The final design was both attractive and easily navigable. The website, located at www.enjoythebroads.com, was launched in May 2011 by the Minister for Tourism and regularly achieves over 20,000 visits per month and gets positive feedback from its users.
