Brief

Along with our friends Unusual Projects, we won the competitive tender to reimagine Severn Trent’s Carsington Water visitor centre. The brief was to create an exciting, immersive exhibition that would entertain and inspire, and have a strong framework for educators too. Over 30 million people have visited Carsington since it opened in 1992, so a new up to date exhibiton was needed for this busy site.

Idea

We designed the exhibition to feel like a journey through water - the Wonderful World of Water. We set out to enthrall visitors with unbelievable facts and stories; what a strange liquid water is, how it first arrived on earth, and how important it is to us today; all told through interactives, AV displays, and ‘hands on’ experiences where ever possible. Keeping text to a minimum.

Result

The exhibition has been extremely well received by Severn Trent and the staff at Carsington. It's proving hugely popular with the public too; opening day saw queues forming at all the displays! And being full of interactives and games it's become a big hit with young visitors in particular.
