The World War 2 touch-screen, Essex County Council<\/span><\/p><\/div>\n

Ugly Studios were commissioned by Essex County Council to develop a variety of resources as part of an EU-funded WWII Heritage project <\/a>with international partners from the Netherlands, Belgium, France and England. We have already released a number of interpretive trails across Essex<\/a> (supported by display boards and leaflets) but this touch-screen was envisioned to allow users to explore Essex’s built heritage from within the Museum. \u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Visitors\u00a0are invited to take part in a game, quizzing their ability to recognise photos of WWII relics in the Essex landscape. There are levels about coastal defences, land defences and anti-aircraft defences; helping everyone to tell their pillboxes from their Spigot Mortar enclosures.<\/span><\/p>\n

Visitors\u00a0can also explore an interactive map to find WWII heritage in and around their home towns and favourite places. People are also encouraged to explore further: the pillbox-inspired kiosk design is equipped with leaflet racks displaying our trail leaflets.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0Chelmsford Museum is open Monday-Sunday (excluding Fridays during term-time).<\/span><\/p>\n
