The Norfolk Wildlife Trust’s Visitor Centre at Cley Marshes was already a cutting-edge facility before commissioning a revamp of the site, including the build and outfitting of a new Educational Centre. Ugly Studios won the opportunity to develop the site, augmenting its modern and innovative design with a range of high-quality interactive touch-screens and touch-table, and complete audiovisual supply and fit-out.<\/p>\n

The existing Visitor Centre now houses three interactive screens, each with custom-built bespoke software, allowing visitors to explore at their own pace through our layered content. Two screens give visitors a chance to learn about both Norfolk wildlife and the North Norfolk coastline respectively, displaying content and quizzes with a familiar and intuitive approach, facilitating quick and easy engagement with the interactives. A further touchscreen allows visitors the chance to explore and share written, photographic and audio experiences of Cley.<\/p>\n

The new Simon Aspinall Education Centre<\/a> is decked out with an interactive whiteboard, full soundsystem and large video wall, with films commissioned from local wildlife photographers and filmmakers. The centrepieces of the building are our digital interactives, exploring the migratory birds that make their homes at Cley Marshes. An Arrivals and Departures touch-screen evokes an airport-style atmosphere, listing each bird from those arriving, to resident species, and those passing through. The 46″ touch-table places the visitor experience centrally within its design, whilst delving into more detail about each bird species and their migration routes. The touch-table’s dynamic multi-touch interactive design allows engagement from all angles.\u00a0\u00a0Social content including ‘Top Bird’, a trumps-style game, and the ability to ‘share’ chosen birds with friends sparks conversation between visitors, cementing those all-important social connections.<\/p>\n

Alongside the Norfolk Wildlife Trust, we will be celebrating the opening of the Simon Aspinall Centre today, with guest of honour Sir David Attenborough, President Emeritus of the Wildlife Trusts. NWT were a pleasure to work alongside, and we wish them the best of luck for the future!<\/p>\n
