When’s Wally??

We’re proud to announce the launch of ‘n-Explore’, a new online game all about the history of our home city of Norwich. The project was commissioned by Norwich Heritage, Economic and Regeneration Trust (HEART) and built in collaboration with HEART and technology partners, Neontribe.

The easiest way to describe the game is “Where’s Wally across time”. Players are given a list of items to find. Each item has a clue pointing towards one of eight historical views of Norwich ranging from Saxon times right up to the present day. The more items you find, the more you unlock. As you progress through the game you can win awards and print out certificates of achievement. There’s lots of fun across five levels with themes like ‘Crime & Punishment’, ‘Money & People’, ‘Art & Leisure’.

The game was designed as an engaging way to teach chronology to key stage 2 and 3 students. During production it was tested on pupils from Wymondham High School, and comes with a range of lesson plans for teachers to use in class. However, you don’t have to be a history student to enjoy it, it is a great tool for exploring Norwich and exploring the past. You can visually see the growth of the city just by moving a slider and then click into a time period to unearth fascinating local stories.

If you are a teacher looking for a classroom resource, a history fan, or if you just like hidden object games have a look at ‘n-Explore’ here.
